JBL M2 dspMusikLCD digital crossover
« on: December 08, 2017, 04:45:37 AM »
Have been asked by a few folks about a dspMusikLCD digital crossover for the JBL M2 speakers to use instead of the Crown DSP amp.  This gives flexibility in what power amps the user wants to install for biamping.  The system is fully balanced I/O like the original.

The design is almost complete and will be going out for demo.   Should be interesting to hear the results.

Only the Crown iTech 5000W amps and BSS preamp do realtime FIR filters. The other Crown amps approved for M2 use are IIR. Since the new dspMusik is FIR capable, that would make a good selling point if you could offer FIR crossover setup for M2. I personally would rather have a high end audiophile amplifiers with linear phase response. But I don't own M2s, so it's moot.

I can do both and it would be interesting to have a setup without linear phase to eliminate the pre-ringing in the filter.

A FIR does not have to be linear phase.   :thumb:
