Question (actually two) regarding the digital cable:

1) Is this a 75-ohm design?

2) Can it be made with a BNC on one end, or only RCA?

Thanks....

Hi Richard
I will email Grover that we are doing the second round now so he can nose in on us once in a while, but in the meantime, contact him directly for specific answers.

groverhuffman@hotmail.com

You will need to get custom price from him anyway. Make sure it is OK to do a special order in the group buy. If you would like to listen to my RCA ICs in your system, let me know.
Rich

The digital cable is a 75 ohm design, and can be made with BNC for an extra charge.

I'll go for a special RCA to XLR cable this time.
Just emailed Grover to ask.

BTW, I'm very happy with his RCA cable in my tubed setup, but when I tried them between my SS processor and amplifier sound went a bit edgy on the top end. Though, I must confess I haven't put on them more then 15 hours yet, so it's probably too early to say...

Grover,

Are your balanced interconnects truly balanced (signal +, signal -, and ground) or do you simply attach an XLR connector to what is otherwise a single-ended IC?

The question was raised in the first group buy thread, but I don't recall it being addressed.

Thanks.

Hi everyone, My balanced cables are custom balanced cables.

Hi everyone, My balanced cables are custom balanced cables.

That's a response, but it doesn't answer the question.  I can strip a power cord from a lamp, put XLR connectors on it and call it a "custom balanced cable", but my saying so doesn't make it true.

Here's a definition of "Balanced" (as it applies to interconnects ) from The Recording Website -

"Balanced cables have 2 audio conduction wires and one ground wire.  What happens here is that the audio information starts at the connector and is split down both the high and low wires 180 degrees out of phase from each other.  Then the audio on both wires is summed up again at your console or gear by a balancing circuit."

And here's one from our friends at Audioholics -

"In a balanced interconnect system both of the signal conductors have an equal, and non-zero, impedance to ground.  Therefore, three conductors are required, signal+, signal-, and ground or shield."

As you can see, different verbiage was used, but the definitions agree.  That being the case, will you now tell me - and others who may be interested - whether or not your "balanced" cables meet with the requirements set forth in the above definitions?

I'm not asking for trade secrets.  I just want to know whether or not I can in good conscience recommend your balanced cables.

I must admit that I would like to know this also as I have had a few people ask if I knew in the past.

Grover?

Rich:

I saw the thread from AcidJazz and thought I would drop a note that I ordered two ICs yesterday.  Boy, this bug has bitten in a very serious way.  I can hear every change I have made to my system with the Monitor Audio 9is.  I can hardly wait until the new speakers arrive!

Monitor Audio 9i's are one of my favorite speakers! I use to run 4 in a 5.1 setup before moving on to the GR's and then the GS60's. All very good speakers!  :D
