Vijay Iyer at the Village Vanguard
« on: May 14, 2017, 04:07:40 PM »
Vijay Iyer - piano
Stephan Crump - bass
Tyshawn Sorey - drums (BTW, a fellow drummer friend at work used to know Tyshawn pretty well...)

Sat front row last night, about 6' from the bass drum. Very good show  :thumb:

BUT, on our way in, as they were letting groups in by 2's and 3's etc., the elderly couple in front of us fell down the very steep and narrow stairs. We didn't see it but we were next in line and heard the scream and impact through the closed door. Driving rainstorm. I timed the Emergency Response at just about 5 minutes for both fire and ambulance. Not fun, we will always hope that they are OK. We all get led around to the back entrance as the rescue squad did their job.

Sad story, but thanks for sharing Mike. I hope any injuries are minor and that the Vanguard is not "litigiously diminished" by the accident.

I miss the Vanguard, it's always great.

Apparently it was streamed live on youtube:
