This is a great season. Lots of great symphonies programmed this year, a refreshing change from the norm.

Some highlights:
Dvorak 5th

Barber Symphony 1
Holst Planets (w/HD space video)    Carlos Izcaray, conductor
Beethoven 4th Piano Concerto   Christoph König, conductor

Beethoven Symphony 9  w/NC Master Chorale
Schubert Symphony 9
Tchaikovsky violin Concerto   Augustin Hadelich, violin
Bach Double Violin Concerto
Ives Symphony 2
Lang Lang commie
Tchaikovsky Symphony 4
tons of Mozart
plus popular favorites like various Messiahs, modern works, Copeland, etc.
Then the obligatory money trawlers like Star Trek, Jason Alexander (George Costanza) Sings, Pirates of Penzance, Phantom of the Opera, etc.

The ratio of ore:tailings is greatly improved this year. I hope to attend a lot of concerts.

I'm going to see the first concert, a noontime matinee, this Friday, Beethoven 5th Symphony and 1st Piano Concerto.

Enjoy Rich.

I'd love to catch Shosty's  5th and Tchaikovsky Symphony 4.
