My Path to Nirvana
« on: November 13, 2017, 04:34:59 PM »
I no longer chase the nth degree of detail, soundstage, dynamics, etc., etc. I so enjoy the music, be it cd, iPod via wires, iPod via Bluetooth, satellite, even YouTube.
I get much more pleasure now searching out music I missed from my era (60s and 70s), and discovering new music by way of college radio(one example- WFUV 90.7 in NY).
For example, I just downloaded a 3 cd set of Soca music via iTunes, and no, it doesn’t sound like Diana Krall, but is a whole lot more fun to listen to.
Just rambling, thanks to anyone that reads this. I should also add that my whole system is geared toward what I feel is a euphonic sound. It helps to ameliorate less than stellar recordings.
I’m 57 and don’t see myself turning back. This was typed while listening to an iPod Touch via Bluetooth by Audioengine.

I’ve been interested in audio since the mid 70s and jumped on the audiophool train in the late 80s when I bought a Linn TT. I’m sympathetic to your quest for detail, soundstage, dynamics etc and am still somewhat compelled to pursue it. But there’s a part of me that yearns for the euphonic side. I’ve never had a system like that. My latest experiment with a fr single driver puts me in the detail etc camp. Putting a single driver in an open baffle produced much different results than what I experienced at a friends house as those drivers were in a box and sounded better.
So as I learned again, too much detail can be bad on poorly recorded material. The pursuit of the more euphonic involves a lot of experimentation which I’m finding less enjoyable as time marches on. Then there’s the financial aspect as well as fronting the funds to do it. A money back guarantee is great, but tieing  up money is not.
There are things other than audio that are going on. Like new flooring and painting for the house.
So there’s lots to juggle right now.
If you have time, maybe you can post what your euphonic system consists of.
