Thanks for all that info Michael. I have been carefully looking at Daedalus and Salk as my short list.

I'm not really looking for speakers, but have been quite curious about the new Magico A3s.   Not a big speaker but seems to be garnering a lot of praise.   I think the MSRP is $10k in the US - by far the least expensive speaker Magico has ever made.   Not sure if any dealers are discounting.

There's a Magico dealer in Greensboro, Mike Twomey.
I heard Magico S3 there last weekend. It showed promise but the amp let it down.
Apparently he offers good discounts in general.

btw, (Mike) you can't get new speakers until I come hear the ones you have now. It's only been 5 years right?  :duh

Rich, I have touched base with Mike Twomey.   My wife's folks live over near Greensboro so I was contemplating a field trip to Big Kids Toys.   He said he does have a pair of the A3s in stock.

To be honest, I am still thoroughly enjoying my Von Schweikert VR35s from Shane.   And yes, you definitely need to take a field trip to Durham to check out my system.   Now that I'm retired, I've got a good bit of time.   You can then talk me out of (or in to) spending silly money on speakers

For box type Von S or Vandersteen.  For horns Volti, for planars Omega by Analysis. Used pair of Omega with custom outboard crossovers [list 32K]  available for 9K.
The Vandersteen 3A would fit rather well.
